Mozilla summit in Toronto 2013

We as JKUAT Mombasa fraternity are pleased to inform you that three of our students undertaking BBIT have been selected to attend Mozilla summit in Toronto 2013 Canada this year.

The three students are also members of Mombasa tech Community. These are:

Musa Alfan- Pursuing Bachelor of business information technology. A good graphic designer and passionate about Open Source technologies. Musa is also an active volunteer in community engagements i.e Mozilla Communities and GDG (Google Developer Group)

Said Fuad- Student at JKUAT pursuing BBIT. He is passionate about web and software development and how the two intersect. A leader by example who empowers and motivates his fellow students. He also spends time mentoring his fellow students by creating groups amongst them and learn together. Founder and Co-leader of MombasaTech Community, Mozillian and GDG Mombasa manager

Alifiyah Ganijee- JKUAT undergraduate pursuing BBIT, passionate about Information Technology. She is a web and mobile developer enthusiat who envisions simplicity and so as ease of use of solutions made. She is also a Founder and co lead of the Mombasa tech community, Mozillian and GDG manager. She also works with fellow women Google community managers in aspects of empowering women in technology.

The summit will take place in October 2013. The director, deputy director , registrar and the entire staff of JKUAT Mombasa wish to congratulate these three students for having been selected. Indeed it’s a great honor and we hope that they will represent JKUAT Mombasa in Toronto Canada.

Publishing Scientific Research Workshop

The JKUAT Library in collaboration with Springer Publisher will be holding a workshop on

“Publishing Scientific Research”

Date: 31^st May 2013

Time: 8.15 to 11.30am

What can you do to increase visibility of your work once it is published
Referencing existing work: what is allowed and what is not

What is peer review and how to deal with it

All class representatives to send names of students in their classes on internship to the internship coordinator Madam Kerich ,please create a table in Microsoft word that will capture ,students name,Registration Number ,students phone number and the place where the student is attached.On the same note all students proceeding for internships should collect their internship letters before commencement of examinations.

KUAT Mombasa campus will be hosting a one free day forum on career choice and development on 26th of March 2013 as from 9.00am. The forum will take place at the jkuat Mombasa campus which is located in Mombasa trade centre.The forum is meant to equip the young people especially the form four leavers on how to choose and develop a career as well as guiding them on courses they can pursue

Short Executive Courses February 2013 Intake

In the year 2012, JKUAT in collaboration with various local and International partners is mounting a number of specialized technical and non-technical corporate level short courses at the JKUAT Executive Training Center situated at JKUAT Mombasa this February.

Our executive training is supported by the university and other corporate partners in order to meet the ever changing training needs of the trainees. Our Executive Training targets ambitious executives in companies, governmental organizations, local authorities, academic, research institutions, government ministries, parastatals and self- run consulting firms who wish to gather specialized skills to propel them to higher levels in their careers.
