Diploma in Public Relations

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The programme is designed to introduce learners to the universal value of public relations and advertising.
It also introduce public relations to those who aspire to become public relations practitioners, and apply it in daily work by presenting regulatory codes for ethical and professional standards.

TARGET GROUPS
Students from any discipline who wish to start a career in public relations and advertising or others who are currently working in other occupations and wish to switch to public relations department in their respective organizations.
Managers in any functional areas of the organizations and who wish to acquire knowledge and skills in public relations.
Students who wish to pursue higher qualifications in public relations advertising and sales.
Undergraduate degree students in a discipline other than public relations,advertising,it also serves as a prerequisite to entering degree in public relations  and advertising programme in JKUAT.

PROGRAMME DURATION
The Diploma shall be offered in two academic years with four semesters
The first academic year will comprise of a maximum of twelve (12) course units, and
The second academic year will have a maximum of twelve (12) course units, plus project work and attachment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A candidate must satisfy any of the following mini mum requirements:
EITHER
Be a holder of KCSE with a minimum of C and C- in English and Kiswahili
Be a holder of KCE Division II with a 6 in Kiswahili or English.
Be a holder of a credit pass in any relevant certificate course with at least KCSE Grade C- or KCE III     with at least C- in Kiswahili or English.
OR
Be a holder of any other qualification accepted by the university senate as equivalent to any of the above.
Candidates who hold qualifications v above May at the desertion of the university senate be exempted from some course units. In addition, a candidate registered in another university recognized by the university senate may at the desertion of the senate be allowed to transfer a maximum of one-third relevant units to the programme.
Possession of the MINIMUM requirement does not guarantee automatic admission to the Diploma programme.
