Prof. Moirongo holds a B.ARCH. (Hons) first degree from the University of Nairobi (1990), Masters degree in Building/Construction Management(University of Nairobi – 1996), and a Doctorate Degree in Urban Design & Environmental Management (1999) from the Technical University of Graz, Austria. He is a registered Architect with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS) of Kenya under Chapter 525 of the Laws of Kenya with Registration Number A723. He is qualified as an Associate member of the Chattered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya Branch (ACIarb).
Besides being actively engaged in the architectural practice, he has also served as Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of the Finance Division, the Director Board of Postgraduate Studies (BPS), the Director of the School of Architecture and Building Sciences (SABS) and Head of the Department of Construction Management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. He has over 27 years’ experience professional practice in a range of projects. He has keen interest in spatial and master planning of large institutions or areas including Cities, municipalities, Towns, universities and housing developments. He puts emphasis in sustainable development; climate changes considerations, environmental management and humanisation of the urban space in his designs. Some of his completed projects are master plans for JOOUST, KIBABI, CUoK, UoE MUST and TTU. He has also participated as a resource person in the master planning of the Railway City and CIDPs of various counties. He collaborates with various international universities, UN-Habitat among others.
