Department of Basic & Applied sciences


The department of Statistics and Actuarial Sciences was established in January 2007. It has grown tremendously to be one of the largest Departments in the University, currently housed in the School of Mathematical Sciences. The Department has 21 full time Faculty, whose areas of focus fall under Mathematical Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operational Research and Biostatistics.

  • PhD in Applied Statistics
  • Master of Science in Statistics
  •  MSc in Chemistry
  • Master of Science in Bioinformatics

      i) Bachelors degree with at least Second class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent from a recognized university.
      ii) Bachelors degree with Second Class Honours (Lower Div.) plus at least THREE years relevant experience
      iii) Bachelors degree with pass plus at least FIVE years relevant postgraduate experience 2 Years program
      – Course work – 12 months
      – Evening (Mon-Fri.) OR weekends (Sat.& Sun)
      -Project – 4 months
