Prof. Victoria Ngumi, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Administration, Planning and Development Thursday led the division in signing Performance contracts, which will guide the activities of the division for the 2013/2014 period.
While commending the sections for embracing the performance contracting, Prof. Ngumi emphasized that the concept is critical in enabling the university to realize goals and by extension its vision.
“It is important that we implement all the activities captured in the contracts, while maintaining evidence based monitoring and evaluation,” urged Prof. Ngumi.
The function that was also addressed by Dr. John Wesonga, Director of Performance Contracting and Appraisal, saw heads of sections including Planning, Hospital, Finance, and Human Resources compare notes on their performance in the preceding period. Dr. Wesonga noted that all the sections of the division had their performance contracts aligned to the division’s and the University’s contracts, in line with the aspirations of the concept.
He added that the practice helps to consolidate and enhance performance of individuals hence improving productivity of the university as a whole. JKUAT has consistently improved its performance since it embraced the concept in 2004/2005 period. The University is currently ranked as among the top best performing state corporations.
