JKUAT Alumni dating far back into its days as Jomo Kenyatta College of Agriculture and Technology, later a university college and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) reunited during the Alumni Reunion on May 9, 2009.
The reunion whose theme was “Reuniting JKUAT Alumni for Vision 2030” was attended by JKUAT alumni, top management of the University, alumni officers from University of Nairobi, Catholic University of Eastern Africa and Masinde Muliro University as well as the chief guest, Francis G. Persimei. The theme of the reunion was rated as appropriate or very appropriate by 90.74%.
The participants were enthralled by the chief guest with 70.37% rating the speaker as excellent and 14.81% as very good. The chief guest did challenge the alumni to embrace team spirit; joint ventures, consortia and other joint approaches based on the maxim that “a bunch of organized fools can achieve more than divided professionals!” The chief guest took the participants through the Kenya Vision 2030 and urged them to study in depth the flagship projects, join together and participate in developing Kenya.
The participants rated the event very well with 87.04% putting their satisfaction between good and excellent. The activities carried out during the reunion were found to be appropriate by 51.85% with 33.33% judging them as very appropriate. The entertainment was also well received with an overwhelming majority of 85.19% rating it between good and excellent.
