Theme: “Industrialization, Sustainability and Development: Towards Vision 2030”
JKUAT in her endeavour to meet her vision of being a global institution of excellence in Training, Research and Innovation for development, and her mission to offer accessible quality training, research and innovation in order to produce leaders in the fields of Agriculture, Engineering, Technology, Enterprise Development, Built Environment, Health and other Applied Sciences to suit the needs of a dynamic world has an annual Call for Research Grant. The objective of this JKUAT research fund is to enable the staff members to participate in research and innovation alongside teaching, in line with the university policy where staff members are expected to be involved in research, innovation, teaching, and community work among other development activities.
This is a competitive research grant programme managed by JKUAT for members of staff only. The proposals must be market/product issues driven geared towards problem solving in the society and compliant to the theme above. Multidisciplinary research proposals will receive more favourable consideration. Students and staff members with on-going JKUAT funded research projects are not eligible.
NB: Proposals for innovation should not be submitted under this call.
BUDGET AND FUNDS ALLOCATION
The proposal budget should not exceed Kshs. 1.5 Million per year. Each proposal will be funded for a maximum period of 3 years based on progress reports, intellectual property audit reports and recommendations from Monitoring and Evaluation sub-committee. The successful applicants are expected to adhere to their approved budget, work plan and expected project completion date.

Applicants should submit three hard copies of the proposal to the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (RPE) and email a soft copy to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 pm on Friday, 26th October 2012. Late submissions will not be accepted.
