JKUAT and the National University of Rwanda (UNR) administrations are finalizing on a partnership in various fields.
According to an endorsement by two Chief Executives, Prof. Mabel Imbuga for JKUAT, and Prof. Silas Lwakabamba for UNR, the partnership is to take effect soonest finer details are complete.
The proposed areas of partnership include; Community Service, Capacity Building in Academic programmes, particularly Human Resource and Entrepreneurship.
Other areas will include; Innovations and Intellectual Property, Value Addition, Staff Exchange and Agriculture. Officers from the two institutions vowed to ensure that they tapped talents and resources that would in turn benefit citizens of the two countries.
Prof. Lwakabamba said collaborating with Institutions from within Africa would be more desirable as it was less costly in case of staff or student’s exchange programmes. JKUAT had for long had a similar collaboration with Rwanda’s Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) under Prof. Lwakabamba as the then Rector. It is not surprising therefore that he may have wanted to carry a related partnership to his new assignment considering the impact the collaboration had.
