Top university management fronted by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mabel Imbuga were on Wednesday October, 14 2009 leading from the front through the signing of their Performance Contracts spelling out their set targets based on objectives and results for 2009/2010 financial year in their respective divisions and campuses. In a brief signing ceremony, Prof. Imbuga reminded the chief officers that they were university pillars who held the university together and advised them to be role models particularly in management abilities to the rest of the university community by fulfilling commitments they had spelled out in the agreement in the next one year.
Three Deputy Vice Chancellors; Prof. Francis Njeruh (APD), Prof. Easter Kahangi (RPE) and Prof Romanus Odhiambo (AA) together with the three campus principals, Prof. Victoria Ngumi (Karen), Prof. Hamadi Boga (Taita Taveta) and Prof. Joseph Keriko (Nairobi) pledged total commitment to the signed contracts and vowed to accomplish them.
The vice chancellor thanked Prof. Nelson Ojijo, a food scientist and Director of the JKUAT’s Directorate of Performance Contracting and Appraisal (DiPCA) for successfully steering the initiative for the last one year and wished him well in his new two year assignment in Ghana where he will be heading an international research organization; Strengthening Capacity for Agriculture, Research and Development in Africa (SCARDA). Dr. John Wesonga has since taken over from Prof. Ojijo as head of DiPCA.
